"Inevitably, the Steve Kaufman Acoustic Concert
Series — taking place five nights a week over a two-week period
every year in June — begs the question: which night is the best? The
answer — all of them. There is no "highlight," no "grand finale," no
"this night is better than that." Every single night, musicians who have
taken the boundaries set forth on their particular instruments and
pushed them further than conceivably possible come together and play.
They jam, they improvise, they choreograph ... they transform the
Maryville College campus in picturesque Maryville, Tenn., into an
otherworldly place unrivaled in terms of musical firepower, instrumental
entertainment and sheer artistry. Each musician, alone, could command a
respectable ticket price among those aficionados who regard their
playing as an art form; together, they combine for a mind-boggling
experience that, night after night for two solid weeks, turns a small
Tennessee town into a hotbed of talent without rival anywhere else."
