Thank you for your interest in our Old Time and Traditional Music Kamps held on the grounds of Maryville College in Maryville, TN just 17 miles south of Knoxville.
Week One is typically the more Old Time and Traditional week. Week Two is typically the more Bluegrass Week.
Instruments Taught During Week One: June 13-19, 2010
Old Time Banjo in Clawhammer and Frailing taught by Old Time Banjo Champ Jim Pankey - Also the Yo-Yo King!
Fiddle taught by Adam Masters and Barbara Lamb. Both fiddlers are steeped in traditional roots.
Lap Dulcimer: We are hosting, for the second year, a Lap Dulcimer Class. This week long Dulcimer class will be taught by National Dulcimer Champion and Award Winning Author - Joe Collins.
Dobro and Fingerstyle Guitar are also taught during Week One. Ivan Rosenberg and Johnny Bellar are teaching Dobro. Johnny is a traditional and modern player. Ivan is a traditional player as well as an equally talented Old Time Banjo player.
Flatpicking Guitar: Russ Barenberg, Adam Granger, Jeff Jenkins, Steve Kaufman, Marcy Marxer and Robert Shafer of which Russ, Adam, Marcy and Steve are well known for their traditional fiddle tune arrangements and style.
Upright Bass taught by double bass master Rusty Holloway. Though a UT Jazz Professor, Rusty's traditional values are the core of his course.
